The Tanner Romania Mission has opportunities for volunteers to serve within the foundation.
You would need to commit between 6 weeks abd 3 months to volunteering and be prepared to do what is needed.
Most of your time will be spent providing structured activities for the children. The volunteer role should be flexible in that you should help where the need is whether that be helping to clean or cook when the children are busy with chores or helping with the personal care of individuals as staff request.
Volunteers are based in one home during their volunteer time but you are not bound to one house. Visits to other houses are welcomed and children can be taken on outings.
Volunteer accommodation:
Volunteers live together above Casa Hannah which is central to all of the group homes. It has 3 sleeping areas, open living area (dining, kitchen and lounge area), shared bathroom and storage areas.
Volunteers are provided with all meals. The main meal is in the middle of the day and is had at the house you are volunteering in. You can still have your main meal at the group home even on days off if you wish. Food is provided for you at the volunteer home for the purpose of preparing a light meal for your dinner and breakfast.
If you are considering this worthy cause bear in mind the following:
- You are responsible to Sandy and Bruce
- There are many responsibilities that staff and the founders have to live by as not following correct protocol can lead to children being taken out of their care. You as a volunteer need to respect and live by these.
- Be prepared to serve in whatever way necessary.
- Volunteers work 8 hour days, 5 days a week and this time should be dedicated to the care of the children you are working with as well as providing structured activities for them to participate in.
